Evaluation
From the first term I believe I did a good job of keeping up with the number of animations I did. Although most of the animations were out of my comfort zone I was able to learn new workflows. I will be able to understand a similar situation if needed when I enter the industry.
I believe my character performance in 2D animation has improved a lot just by doing these projects over the summer and I believe I’m well prepared for my FMP projects. It further increases the knowledge of my specialty role as 2D character animation through either keyframing/inbetweening. Through these animations I’ve also have been bettering myself through character animation which is my secondary skill.
I received feedback from people in the industry as well as communicated my improvements through to my peers to better improve my skills, aiming for the studios I researched for. I learned that I won’t be doing all the tasks in the animation industry but having the knowledge of each role (such as line art, shading, and character design, etc) helps my chances of being more helpful in the industry.
I should be able to measure myself through how long it would take me to animate an FMP project just from the different experiences and feedback I received from my peers and teachers. I need to work on my time management; as my scheduling for each animation had gaps of days where no production was made.
Other than that, overall I feel like I achieved a goal in solidifying my specialty through these animations I created. I have a stronger view of what I want to be in the future of my carrier as a 2D animator as I continue to dive into the industry.
